B-cycle
Creating a circular economy for batteries
Australians have doubled their battery usage in the last decade. Crucially, effective recycling could slash CO2 emissions by half.
Building a planet-friendly battery life cycle
With 90% of discarded batteries in Australia leaking toxins in landfills, B‑cycle, Australia’s first battery stewardship initiative, is revolutionising how we reclaim precious minerals and safeguard the environment.
Over the last two years, Another Colour has collaborated with B‑cycle to develop the Positive Charge reports — an invaluable resource for showcasing success stories to stakeholders and the media. These reports not only celebrate the significant progress made in battery recycling but also inspire and engage every participant in the supply chain — from manufacturers and retailers to recyclers and consumers.

Momentum, advancement and regeneration
Our graphic system, inspired by the iconic DD battery cell’s shape, brings B‑cycle’s circular economy mission to life. Numerical fonts and stylised infographics vividly narrate the success story.
Making a difference — a data story
Batteries are changing the way we live and work. In 2024, Australian battery purchases can encircle the Earth 7 times, ballooning to 37 times by 2050.
B-cycle achieved an impressive collection of 2,934 tonnes of recycled batteries, with a remarkable 68% of those batteries being recycled into a second-life. Since its launch in January 2022, this stewardship program has successfully doubled the collection rate, demonstrating a significant commitment to sustainable practices.
Accessible design spreads the word
We updated the visual identity to boost digital accessibility, ensuring the broadest possible audience. Interactive features enrich the report’s shareability and magnify the importance of battery recycling.
