It’s probably safe to say that for most of us the only reason we tune in to the Oscars is for the red carpet spectacle. It's an endless procession of actresses, draped in either the finest couture or fashion’s most infamous failures. Part runway, part performance and ever-so-slightly ridiculous, it is a guilty indulgence that is best enjoyed with pizza and friends and we never miss it. After many years of avid viewing we decided to turn this obsession into a quantifiable (or informative) pictogram, hoping to learn the science behind these famous frocks. Yves Klein Blue

It’s hard to imagine a career based upon the use of a single colour but that’s exactly what French artist, Yves Klein, did. In response to what Klein said was a complete misinterpretation to an exhibition that explored a range of monochrome textures, and thus began an era in his art that focused on the exploration of one colour only – blue.
